Thanks to everyone for braving the ice and snow last month, the party was sold out and was a great time yet again!!
We are changing it up this month. We will go back to having a guest DJ open the night. DJ Bashee is a new sensation in Arlington, VA spinning some choice dub and dancehall. Come early to check out his set.
THANKS!!

The Third Anniversary of the USDB is upon us. As well as DJ beta-G’s birthday! Please come on out! And, we will also see about getting some cupcakes to give out from Bakeshop in Arlington, like we did the last 2 anniversaries!
Please let your friends know about the… party by sharing the event page on your wall! Invite them if you feel inclined as well! thanks!
Red Baraat is playing at U St. Music Hall on Feb 3rd, go check them out too. We saw them at Artisphere last year. They are definitely worth checking out, and so is the venue! both not connected to USDB in any fashion, We just like promoting those two, as well as some other people, just in the interest of developing the Bhangra scene in DC.
The Dhoonya dance classes have been great fun at the last 2 USDB events, we will hopefully have them on board again, we will let you know. check them out here:

Hey Everyone, this is URGENT!!!
Before your day of thanks, may we ask you for a favor next Saturday.
Amit is a cool guy, he did this cool site photojojo.com. The USDB has been asked to DJ an event to help find a donor for him! Please come out and tell all of your browntown friends to come get checked! Time is precious.
…
BloomBars is hosting the party. Bhangra Brown Marrow Party and Donor Drive. The purpose of the event is to register people into the National Bone Marrow Registry in hopes of finding a match for Amit Gupta, and an amazing man not yet 30 who is in urgent need of bone marrow transplant.
There is a 1 in 20,000 chance of finding a donor match, which would double his chances of survival. South Asians are significantly underrepresented in the… Bone Marrow Registry so there is great potential for this to help others. And of course, all are welcome to attend, register and donate regardless of ancestry.
You can learn more about Amit in this interview he did with CNN’s Sanjay Gupta http://www.cnn.com/video/?%2Fvideo%2Fhealth%2F2011%2F11%2F04%2Fgupta-patient-needs-bone-marrow.cnn#/video/health/2011/11/04/gupta-patient-needs-bone-marrow.cnn.
Testing is as simple as getting your mouth swabbed, and if your marrow is needed for transplant as simple as donating blood.
Visit: http://amitguptaneedsyou.com/ for more information to learn about ways you can help Amit.
The evening will feature the U.S. Department of Bhangra with Beta-G

As the federal budget debates draw to an end, it seems things are in the clear again for the DoB. We will be returning to the backstage at Black Cat on August 20th!!! its been about 3 months so tell your friends, invite everyone, its time to get down again.
We will be helping out our friends over at subcontinental drift again. They are saving up for a cool live hiphop show coming up in a few months, so we will be giving them a chunk of change from this show to help them out with their expenses.
Check subcontinental drift out on facebook to find out more about them. They are having a BBQ on the 14th in rock creek park. Come by, Beta-G will be running the grill.
The Department of Bhangra is glad to be back. We hope to see all you at the Cat soon.
