Hey everyone,
Can you believe its been one year of the U.S. Department of BHANGRA!!! We started out back then with a new president in office and a mission to diversify the dance scene in DC, I think we are making good with our promise, but we wanna keep it going strong in 2010!!
So to celebrate this milestone, Bossa Loung is going to have drink specials from 10 to 11, and we are going to have cupcakes from our good friends at BAKESHOP in Arlington, VA.
If anyone has any requests, please send a message or post it on the event page.

Between Thanksgiving, Eid and Xmas, Festivus, Kwanza, Hannakah and all the other Holidays lies a new holiday, Bhangroliday, come celebrate on Dec 4th.
The November party was just plain AWESOME!!!! so much fun… let’s keep it building upward!!!’
here are some good words from the press:
“The U.S. Department of Bhangra is the kind of government expansion we love - a night of thumping, percussive Indian music spun by DJs Miss Modular and Beta-G. Now a monthly throw down,… …its regulars always love to lip-sync to favorite Bollywood hits and show off their moves in the middle of dance circles.”
-Going Out Guru’s - The Washington Post
” Top Ten under $10:
#2. Tucked as it is between the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Commerce in the federal dictionary, it’s easy to overlook the US Department of Bhangra. Dedicated to bringing a hot monthly Indian dance party to Washington, its employees work at Bossa on Friday night, keep odd hours (10 PM to 2 AM), and require very little funding (an $8 cover).”

The October USDB was by far the best one ever!!! Complete with dance-offs in dance circles, bollywood style lip syncing/ acting / dancing. Basically, people were having a great time!!! let’s keep the party going strong this month!!
We have decided to have the party on the first Fridays of every month, but as i say that, we might be skipping December due to the holiday season and travel plans for the DJs, We’ll keep you posted for that. It just means that you should definitely make it out to this one, as it could be the last one of the year.

DJ REKHA ROCKED IT AT BLACK CAT YET AGAIN!!! she is so inspiring, so i can’t wait to spin this month. this month we are supporting SALTAF, the South Asian Literary & Theatrical Arts Festival… and their member, Renu, will be teaching a bhangra dancing class beforehand at 9:15, so come early.
Bossa is complicating my life, but the party goes on!!!
So this month we are benefiting Radio CPR, As we found out last time, Bossa collect $5 at the door, and gives us a little bit of it, but they take most of it. Once you get in come upstairs, where RadioCPR will have a table with t-shirts for sale and other cool stuff, and they will be asking for a $3 donation at the top of the stairs.
Thanks a lot for understanding, I am trying to keep this party benefiting a charity or organization that helps make the world a better place, all the while, having a fun positive dance party with beautiful smiles everywhere.
INFO ON RADIOCPR.COM
“Radio CPR 97.5fm is a community-based radio station broadcasting in Mt Pleasant, Columbia Heights, and surrounding neighborhoods of DC. The station seeks to provide an outlet for the voices, stories, music and opinions that so often get excluded from mainstream forums of communication. CPR opens a space that resists corporate control of the airwaves. We also provide the opportunity for more residents to participate in discussions about the issues that impact their city
and their neighborhoods.”
